The Regulations
The employer must carry out an ergonomic risk assessment of all computer work stations, regardless of how often they are used.
A ‘computer user’ is a person who spends an accumulative time that equates to two or more hours per shift.
Where a ‘computer user’, as defined above, considers their vision to be affected by using a computer, they are entitled to a free eye test, provided or arranged by the employer. If glasses are recommended, financial assistance may be offered by the employer.
Staff who use computers, must receive relevant training, to ensure they are able to use the computer equipment safely and correctly.
