A company employing five or more people is required to write down its health and safety policy.

This policy must put arrangements in place to manage health and safety in that company’s workplace. It must include information on named individuals who may have specific responsibilities.

It is through this policy that the company demonstrates its commitment to good health and safety practice. The policy must be brought to the attention of all employees.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 sets out the statutory minimum required of employers to provide their employees with safe working conditions.
