riddorThere are certain accidents and incidents that are notifiable to the HSE. The regulations which place duties on employers to report certain incidents are called the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations. They are commonly referred to as the RIDDOR regulations and the timeframe the organisation has to report incidents to the HSE is dependant on the type of incident being reported.

The table opposite shows the type of injuries that should be reported and the timescales involved.

There are 10 types of major injury, 47 types of disease and 21 types of dangerous occurrences listed in the RIDDOR regulations, (as shown in column two of the table).
