The HSE provides guidance to help employees assess risks within their own workplace – they are broken down into five main steps:

  1. Identify the hazards
  2. Identify who may be harmed and how
  3. Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions
  4. Record and implement the findings
  5. Review and update the risk assessments when necessary
