We have already mentioned that the employer must carry out certain risk assessments.
The HSE provides guidance to help employees assess risks within their own workplace – they are broken down into five main steps:
- Identify the hazards
- Identify who may be harmed and how
- Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions
- Record and implement the findings
- Review and update the risk assessments when necessary
