Safeguarding Adults is a core responsibility for everyone who provides health care services
• Safeguarding means protecting people’s health, wellbeing and human rights
• Enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect
• Support and protection for those in the most vulnerable situations includes:
• Prevention of harm and abuse through provision of high quality care
• Effective responses to allegations of harm and abuse, responses that are in line with local multi agency procedures
• Using learning to improve service to patients (Department of Health, 2011)
