A sharps injury is an incident which causes a sharp instrument to penetrate the skin
Sharps injuries can result in the transmission of blood born viruses such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV
If a sharp injury occurs:
- Encourage it to bleed
- Wash it
- Dry and cover it
- Seek medical advice
- Report it
