Safeguarding Adults is a core responsibility for everyone who provides health care services

•         Safeguarding means protecting people’s health, wellbeing and human rights

•         Enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect

•         Support and protection for those in the most vulnerable situations includes:

•         Prevention of harm and abuse through provision of high quality care

•         Effective responses to allegations of harm and abuse, responses that are in line with local multi agency procedures

•         Using learning to improve service to patients (Department of Health, 2011)
