MedTechBOOST is a major collaboration between academics, business and the NHS

A new programme has been launched to create AI-powered solutions to the UK’s biggest healthcare problems.

MedTechBOOST was launched by Central Working, Eastern AHSN and Studio Zao along with Cambridge University’s Judge Business School and an NHS innovation network.

Corporates including Arm, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson are also involved in the programme.

The programme hope to foster new idea from individuals and teams and ultimately help them pitch to the NHS and big business for contracts, investment and further opportunities.

Applications will be open until 31 July. Those accepted will join an ideation programme where they will receive guidance and mentoring from programme partners including sponsors Cambridge Judge Business School Entrepreneurship Centre as well as Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust.

Entrepreneurs, students, early-stage startups, tech practitioners and healthcare professionals are all invited to apply to the programme.

James Parton, Director at Central Working called the programme one of the most ambitious collaborative health tech programmes the UK has ever seen.

“MedTechBOOST offers individuals and early-stage startups unprecedented access to the NHS and a roster of multinational businesses and investor networks, providing a life-changing experience for anyone pursuing a career in healthcare or AI,” he said.

Bruno Cotta, Executive Director at Cambridge Judge Business School Entrepreneurship Centre, added: “We are delighted to support this collaborative initiative to stimulate more healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship in Cambridge and beyond.”

Jamie Qiu, Managing Partner at Studio Zao, concluded: “This programme offers innovators the opportunity to work side-by-side with senior healthcare representatives, exploring ways to address healthcare’s major challenges with groundbreaking technology.

“By building teams from domain experts and surrounding them with dedicated guidance and advice, MedTechBOOST provides a unique opportunity to rapidly transform an interesting idea into a viable concept which can be adopted by the NHS and change the lives of patients.”
